Astute's Power Team is partnered with a market-leading company, within the Power Generation sector, to recruit for a Production/Operations Technician to join their Combined Cycle Gas Turbine (CCGT) Power Station in Southwick, West Sussex.

The vital Production/Operations Technician role comes with a basic salary of 45,000 - 47,000 + 12,087 shift allowance + c2,100 location allowance per annum + overtime + up to 20%bonus + Private Medical + excellent benefits package.

Responsibilities and duties

Reporting to the Shift Team Leader, you will be responsible for:

  • Oversee the safe & efficient operation of the plant via the DCS/SCADA system
  • Oversee the steam raising process through the central control room.
  • Carry out first-line maintenance across the whole site
  • Involved with operation & project management activities on site
  • Adhering to HSE / Safety Rules / LOTO / Permit to Work System
  • Supervising contractors
  • Implement the safety rules up to the level of HV Senior Authorised Person / Safety Co-ordinator



Professional qualifications

We are looking for someone with the following:

  • A qualification such as ONC/HNC/HND or equivalent in a relevant engineering discipline such as Mechanical, Electrical, EC&I, etc.
  • Ideally have HV authorised person experience - not a necessity
  • Having a formal health and safety qualification such as IOSH will be advantageous



Personal skills, prior experience and knowledge

The Production Technician role would suit someone who has:

  • Prior Operations/Maintenance experience within a heavy process engineering environments such as Power (CCGT, Energy from Waste, Biomass, Coal, CHP), Refineries, Paper Mills, etc.
  • Experience in first line maintenance experience across relevant discipline area (Process, Electrical, C&I, Mechanical).
  • Experience of operating within safety, environment and operational polices, standards, frameworks and statutory legislation.
