This is a great opportunity for a Supplier Development Engineer to join an automotive company, based in County Durham, for a 12 month renewable contract, with the potential to go permanent.

The successful contractor will ensure the companies suppliers are delivering, defect-free products that meet manufacturing specifications and legal standards for the spec and market they are intended.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supplier Quality Assurance:- Test and assess incoming supplies for quality, develop processes for inspecting, testing, and evaluating supplier materials.
  • Performance Monitoring:- Track supplier defect rates, identify risk areas, create reports, and guide suppliers on reducing defects.
  • Supplier Assessment & Audits:- Evaluate potential suppliers facilities and processes, conduct audits to ensure compliance with company and legal standards.
  • Supplier Support & Improvement:- Help suppliers enhance their processes by implementing quality assurance plans and process controls.

Qualifications:

  • Relevant degree or equivalent experience in quality or manufacturing engineering preferred.

  • Problem Solving - Leads problem-solving teams, uses multiple techniques to resolve complex issues, and develops resolutions with long-term impact.

  • Quality Orientation - Applies quality standards across teams, balances quality with safety, and tracks both tangible and intangible quality measures
  • Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) - Develops testing procedures, oversees PPAP compliance and documentation, and trains teams on PPAP levels and submissions
  • Manufacturing Standards & Policies - Ensures cross-functional standards are followed, helps develop and implement policies, and uses tools to monitor and enforce compliance
  • Supplier Management - Builds and maintains supplier partnerships, manages performance and resolves issues, and creates supplier quality standards
  • Supplier Evaluation & Certification - Assesses and selects suppliers, designs evaluation methods and resolves supplier quality and pricing issues.

This role has been deemed inside IR35 due to the supervision and control. It will be based in the clients office in County Durham, for a 12 Months duration, with the potential to extend or go permanent. The PAYE rate will be c25-28.40 per hour dependent on experience and comes with Holiday pay and pension. RHL acts as an employment agency and recruitment consultancy.
