Our client is a values-driven charity committed to making a real difference to people’s lives. We are seeking an experienced and inspirational Director of Finance to provide professional leadership of the finance function, ensuring transparency, sustainability, and alignment with their mission. Reporting to the Chief Executive the Finance Director is an essential member of the Executive Management team and will have full responsibility for finance and fiscal strategy. This role will also take leadership of the IT team.

We are looking for an accomplished finance leader who brings both strategic vision and operational expertise. You will combine technical excellence with the ability to inspire confidence, influence at Board level, and work collaboratively across the organisation.

Hybrid working is available with this role.

Assignment Details

  • Provide clear fiscal leadership
  • Lead the development and delivery of the annual budget, monthly management accounts, financial planning, and resource allocation.
  • Ensure compliance with legal and charitable accounting regulations.
  • Provide timely, accurate financial reporting for the Executive Management Team, commissioners, managers, and the Board.
  • Manage and grow the charity’s investment portfolio
  • Monitor the external landscape for emerging opportunities, government policy changes, and innovative ways of working
  • Lead and oversee significant projects with financial impact or risk, including managing external contractors.
  • Collaborate closely with colleagues across the Executive Team, fostering a culture of respect, openness, and teamwork.
  • Shape and influence growth and development

Skills Required

Essential

  • Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) with a minimum of ten years’ post-qualification experience.
  • Strong track record of strategic financial leadership within a complex organisation.
  • Demonstrable experience of delivering financial transparency, efficiency, and sustainability.

Desirable

  • Management or leadership qualification.
  • Experience of working within the charitable or not-for-profit sector.
