This is a new and important role to provide engineering leadership within a regional Automation Centre. With a small and very capable team, dedicated to winning new customers and supporting a loyal customer base, they supply market leading motors, drives and automation technologies. The successful candidate will be the go to person for any technical activities and have the capability and flexibility to be involved in a wide range of activities spanning the complete customer sales cycle, from pre-sales to post sales.

Electrical Engineering Manager

£60-65k + £7k Car Allowance, Pension, Medical

The Role:

  • Mentor a team of Engineers (Projects & Service)

  • Mentor/Supervise new starters, interview and hire new staff

  • Allocate and co-ordinate resource for specific projects

  • Review and update of engineering, production test practices to ensure compliance with specific regulations / standards.

  • Carry out detailed electrical hardware design, ensuring adherence to all appropriate industry standards and regulations, in accordance with customer specification.

  • Ensure CAD design (EPLAN) is efficiently and effectively applied to all projects

  • Provide accurate electrical drawings, panel layout drawings, system architecture drawings and cable schedules for the project engineering department

  • Supervise and approve designs

  • Perform tests including internal testing / FAT and validation of projects

  • Compile project documentation including but not limited to FAT, FDS, O&M Manuals etc.

  • Monitor and liaise with panel build sub-contractors. Complete site visits.

  • Carry out effective risk assessment and perform all activities in accordance with Health & Safety legislation and Company procedures

  • Adhere to contractual requirements and ensure customer satisfaction

The Person:

  • Degree or recognised higher apprenticeship in Electrical, Electronic or Automation

  • 5 Years+ Design & Implementation of Industrial Control systems using PLCs, HMIs, and Drives (VFDs and DC Drives);

  • Project Engineering Execution

  • Hardware Design (EPLAN)

  • Drive systems design or commissioning and system testing experience

We require a team motivated, tenacious individual with a structured approach to planning and organising with great interpersonal and communication skills and flexibility to travel to customer sites.
