Health & Safety Manager
Take the lead in driving Health & Safety excellence across a successful multi-site Fresh Produce packing organisation. As the Health & Safety Manager, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the safety, wellbeing, and legal compliance of all operations.

Role Overview

Working closely with cross-functional teams and as part of the production leadership team, you will lead the Health & Safety efforts across multiple sites. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure that the organisation adheres to all relevant legislation, codes of practice, and internal policies, cultivating a safety-first culture at all levels of the business.

Health & Safety Manager Key Responsibilities

  • Champion the development, communication, and implementation of comprehensive Health & Safety strategies that ensure compliance and promote a proactive safety culture
  • Conduct regular risk assessments and audits, ensuring compliance with Health & Safety laws and regulations, including PUWER assessments and safety protocols
  • Lead the creation and delivery of training programs designed to improve employee awareness and adherence to Health & Safety best practices
  • Continuously monitor and evaluate the organisation's Health & Safety performance, using KPIs to identify areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions
  • Ensure that health and safety risks are effectively communicated across all departments, and work collaboratively to mitigate these risks before they impact operations
  • Advise leadership on Health & Safety issues, providing guidance on regulatory compliance, risk management, and safety policies

Health & Safety Manager Key Requirements

  • Proven experience in a fast-paced food or fresh produce production environment, with a strong track record in leading Health & Safety teams and initiatives
  • Relevant qualifications in Health & Safety, with a thorough understanding of Health & Safety legislation and industry standards
  • Expertise in risk assessments, PUWER, and Health & Safety management systems
  • Strong IT skills, with proficiency in written and spoken English
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to engage teams at all levels of the organisation
