Production Maintenance Engineer

- Salary: 40,000 - 42,000 per annum
We are seeking a dedicated Production Maintenance Engineer to join our Maintenance Department. This role is crucial for ensuring the efficient operation of machinery within our injection moulding manufacturing areas. The position involves a rotating shift pattern and requires a proactive approach to machine maintenance and safety compliance.
Day-to-day of the role:
Machinery Maintenance:
- Maintain and troubleshoot all ancillary equipment and conveyors in the Injection Moulding and Regrind departments.
- Develop and implement a planned preventative maintenance (PPM) plan.
- Monitor equipment performance and maintain detailed maintenance records.
- Manage the receipt, identification, and storage of engineering materials/spares.
- Maintain a stock of essential spare parts onsite to minimize downtime.
- Update records of work activities and ensure smooth handover of tasks between shifts.
- Collaborate with manufacturers, suppliers, and internal departments to enhance machine reliability and performance.
- Oversee general site maintenance and manage site contractors in the Injection Moulding department.
Health and Safety Compliance:
- Maintain machinery with health and safety as a priority.
- Conduct regular safety audits and maintain high standards of housekeeping.
- Report any health and safety issues to the Production Manager.
- Adhere to safety protocols and use provided PPE correctly.
Communication:
- Keep the Production Manager and Operations Manager informed of any significant machine or equipment issues.
- Ensure any breakdowns or lost time are communicated to the Operations Manager and Production Planner.
Other Duties:
- Assist in training new employees and cover for absences as needed.
- Work independently or as part of a team, often without direct supervision.
- Be available for overtime to meet customer demands or workloads.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Proven experience in maintenance within a manufacturing environment, preferably in injection moulding.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to develop and follow a preventative maintenance plan.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
