Process Engineer / Technologist

We are supporting a fast-growing, forward-thinking engineering business based in a newly built, state-of-the-art facility in West Lancashire. This company develops and manufactures specialist systems used for high-temperature waste treatment and thermal processing applications across international markets.
As part of their ongoing growth, they are looking for a Process Engineer / Technologist to join their technical team. This is a pivotal role working at the interface of commercial and engineering teams to ensure the thermal systems specified are not only technically sound and compliant, but also commercially viable and buildable.
The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and specifying the process side of thermal treatment equipment - including sizing of chambers, combustion requirements, and emissions considerations - while taking into account chemical reaction behaviour, material characteristics, and international compliance requirements.
Key Responsibilities:-
Develop thermal process specifications and define parameters including temperature ranges, residence time, flow characteristics, and emissions

Calculate equipment sizing and layout requirements based on waste input types and performance expectations

Work cross-functionally with sales, engineering, and project teams to ensure designs meet customer needs and can be manufactured efficiently

Ensure compliance with local and global environmental and safety regulations

Support the creation of technical documentation for proposals and project delivery

Contribute to continuous improvement in thermal process design and performance

Degree in Process, Mechanical, Chemical Engineering or similar

Strong background in process engineering, particularly involving combustion, thermal systems or heat-transfer applications

Comfortable applying engineering principles to complex chemical and thermal problems

Awareness of environmental compliance, emissions control and regulatory frameworks

Experience working cross-functionally with commercial and technical stakeholders

Strong technical documentation and modelling skills

Salary up to £55,000 depending on experience
