Job Title: SEMH Teaching Assistant

Reeson Education is collaborating with a dedicated Special Educational Needs school in the Wigan area to recruit a compassionate and proactive SEMH Teaching Assistant. This intimate setting caters to students aged 7 to 13 who face challenges in mainstream schools or alternative provisions due to Social, Emotional, and Mental Health needs, complex learning difficulties, and behavioural challenges.

SEMH Teaching Assistant Key Responsibilities:

  • Individualised Support: Provide personalized assistance to students, ensuring their unique learning needs are met.
  • Collaborative Planning: Work closely with teachers and support staff to develop and implement effective strategies tailored to each student.
  • 1:1 Attention: Deliver one-on-one support to help students thrive academically and emotionally.
  • Behaviour Management: Implement positive behaviour strategies to maintain a conducive learning environment.
  • Progress Monitoring: Track and report on student progress, maintaining accurate records and communicating with relevant stakeholders.

SEMH Teaching Assistant Qualifications and Experience:

  • Previous experience in an educational or youth support setting is essential.
  • Demonstrated ability to support students with diverse learning needs, including those with SEMH challenges.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
  • Understanding of safeguarding and child protection policies.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and adapt to the dynamic needs of the school environment.

Desirable Attributes for the appointed SEMH Teaching Assistant:

  • Formal qualifications in education, child development, or a related field.
