As a PMLD Teacher, you will deliver bespoke learning programmes tailored to meet the unique needs of each student. Working closely with a multidisciplinary team, you will ensure the educational, emotional, and physical development of learners, enabling them to achieve their full potential.
Key Responsibilities of a PMLD Teacher:
- Plan and deliver highly personalised lessons, incorporating sensory and therapeutic approaches.
- Use a range of communication methods, including Makaton, PECS, or AAC, to engage and support students.
- Monitor and assess progress, maintaining detailed records and adjusting plans to meet individual needs.
- Work collaboratively with teaching assistants, therapists, and families to provide a holistic approach to education.
- Promote independence, life skills, and self-confidence in students.
The successful PMLD Teaching candidate will have:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent qualification.
- Experience working with children or young people with PMLD.
- Knowledge of strategies and resources for supporting students with sensory and physical disabilities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a patient and empathetic approach.
- Resilience and creativity in adapting to the unique challenges of working with PMLD students.
- Up to date Safeguarding, Prevent, and Professional Boundaries training (or be willing to undertake it).
