Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of young people? Do you have the resilience and proactive attitude needed to support pupils with social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs?

We are currently seeking a dedicated SEMH Teaching Assistant to join a specialist SEMH school in Skelmersdale. This is a full-time position starting in September, working Monday to Friday.



About the Role:

As an SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting students who may display challenging behaviours or struggle with emotional regulation. Your role will be to help them access learning, build confidence, and develop positive relationships in a supportive and structured environment.



Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-to-one and small group support

  • Help implement individual education and behaviour plans

  • Support the class teacher in managing behaviour and classroom routines

  • Create a safe, nurturing, and inclusive learning space

  • Build strong, trusting relationships with students



The Ideal Candidate:

We welcome applicants from a variety of backgrounds. You may have experience as a:

  • Sports Coach

  • Support Worker

  • Teaching Assistant

  • Or have personal experience working with or supporting individuals with SEMH needs

You must be:

  • Resilient, with a calm and patient manner

  • Proactive, adaptable, and able to think on your feet

  • Passionate about supporting vulnerable young people

  • Committed to promoting positive outcomes for all students
