A leading industrial manufacturing organisation is seeking an experienced Manufacturing Engineer to take on exciting lean development projects and drive continuous improvement across production operations. Based in Skelmersdale, this role offers the opportunity to apply your expertise in a dynamic environment while collaborating with innovative and diverse teams to deliver impactful, lasting change.
Role Responsibilities
- Providing full support to production processes and assisting with the development, testing, and introduction of new products.
- Developing and implementing significant improvements in department-wide processes, procedures, and systems.
- Improving the overall reliability and performance of plant operations, personnel, production equipment, and processes.
- Carrying out feasibility studies for new technical innovations, testing installations and systems, and analysing data.
- Assisting with the installation and commissioning of new equipment and processes.
- Maintaining and developing the delivery of finished products in line with cost, quality, and production schedule requirements.
- Implementing standard operating procedures across all areas of responsibility.
- Making Health and Safety awareness a top priority, ensuring guidelines are actively followed and promoted.
- Communicating, liaising, and negotiating internally and externally using appropriate methods to support the development of profitable business and sustainable relationships.
- Building strong relationships with plant management functions and fostering excellent relationships with key business stakeholders.
Skills and Expertise
- Bachelor's, Master's, or Apprenticeship degree (or higher) from an accredited institution in an Engineering discipline
- Significant hands-on experience in both manual and automated assembly manufacturing environments
- Experience with lean manufacturing techniques and Six Sigma
- Proven track record in manual and automated assembly processes, with demonstrated success in process capability and OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness) improvement
- Experience in project management
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication skills
- Self-motivated and versatile, able to work independently without supervision
- Familiarity with line balancing, with practical knowledge and application of Lean/Six Sigma methodologies
- Six Sigma / Lean certification, ideally Green Belt or higher
- Additional project management experience
