A well-established vehicle maintenance provider in Skelmersdale is looking for a skilled and experienced HGV Technician to join their team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who thrives in a busy workshop environment and wants to contribute to the smooth running of a fleet of HGVs and support vehicles.

As an HGV Technician, you will be responsible for carrying out maintenance and repairs to the highest standard, ensuring all vehicles remain operational and compliant with industry regulations.

The Candidate

  • Significant experience in HGV vehicle maintenance and repairs.
  • Strong knowledge of DVSA testing procedures and vehicle inspection standards.
  • Ability to diagnose mechanical issues quickly and accurately.
  • Solid experience with electrical systems, hydraulic systems, and other complex vehicle components is a plus.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment, both independently and as part of a team.
  • Certification in HGV maintenance or a related field is desirable.
  • A full, clean UK driving license (Class 2 would be advantageous but not essential).

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform regular maintenance, repairs, and servicing on a fleet of HGVs and support vehicles.
  • Conduct MOT preparations, inspections, and repairs in line with DVSA regulations.
  • Diagnose and resolve mechanical faults using diagnostic equipment and expert knowledge.
  • Ensure all repairs and maintenance work is carried out to the highest quality standards.
  • Maintain accurate service records and ensure compliance with health and safety standards.
  • Work with the team to manage parts stock levels and order necessary parts when required.
  • Keep workshop equipment in safe, efficient working order.
  • Carry out both scheduled and ad-hoc repairs to ensure vehicles remain operational.
  • Ensure that all work is completed in a timely manner, minimizing vehicle downtime.
