Role Overview
We are seeking a high-calibre Financial Controller to lead our financial operations and support strategic decision-making. This is a hands-on role in a dynamic environment, ideal for someone with a strong foundation in financial management and a passion for continuous improvement. You will report directly to the CFO and manage a Management Accountant, taking ownership of all aspects of management accounts, budgeting, and finance process optimisation.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and deliver accurate and timely monthly management accounts with insightful commentary.
- Lead the annual budgeting process, reforecasts, and cash flow planning.
- Develop, implement, and enhance financial processes and internal controls to support a scaling business.
- Ensure integrity and accuracy of financial data, providing analysis and insights to support business decisions.
- Drive automation and reporting improvements using Excel, Power Query, and other tools.
- Partner with operational teams to understand cost drivers and improve financial performance.
- Manage and develop one Management Accountant, fostering a culture of excellence and accountability.
- Support the CFO with ad-hoc analysis, board reporting, and strategic finance projects.
Skills & Experience Required
- ACA / ACCA / CIMA qualified (or equivalent).
- Proven experience as a Financial Controller, Finance Manager, or similar role in a growing, fast-paced business—ideally in care, healthcare, or service-led sectors.
- Exceptional Excel skills—must be confident with advanced formulas, dynamic arrays, and Power Query.
- Strong understanding of management accounting, budgeting, and financial planning.
- Experience implementing or improving finance systems and processes.
- Able to thrive in a lean, agile environment with a hands-on approach.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, able to collaborate across functions.
- Commercially savvy with a proactive and problem-solving mindset.
- Full UK Driving License and access to a vehicle.
