About the Role:

As a Sociology Teacher, you will be responsible for delivering engaging and effective lessons that promote strong literacy, communication, and critical thinking skills. You will inspire students through your subject expertise, encourage independent thinking, and develop pupils’ reading, writing, speaking, and analytical skills to prepare them for future success.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality Sociology lessons tailored to a range of learning abilities.
  • Plan, mark, and assess students’ progress in line with the national curriculum.
  • Foster a learning environment where creativity, confidence, and curiosity are encouraged.
  • Prepare students for national assessments, including GCSEs, with a focus on progression and achievement.
  • Use data-driven strategies to support and challenge learners of varying levels.
  • Contribute to departmental planning, CPD sessions, and collaborative teaching approaches.
  • Support whole-school literacy initiatives and take part in extra-curricular activities.

Job Requirements:

  • Hold UK Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with a degree in Sociology or a related field.
  • Demonstrable experience teaching Sociology in a UK school setting.
  • Strong subject knowledge of Sociology.
  • Ability to create engaging lesson plans that promote critical thinking and active participation.
  • Skilled in classroom management and fostering positive pupil behaviour.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting student welfare.
  • Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years, barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
