Group Financial Accountant

Salary: £65,000 – £75,000 per annum DOE up to 10% discretionary bonus

Compass Associates are delighted to be partnering with a leading UK care provider to recruit a newly created Group Financial Accountant role.

Our client is a market leading, family-owned care group operating over 130 homes nationwide with significant expansion plans. The organisation is experiencing rapid growth through acquiring established care homes, turn-key assets and new developments, creating a fast-paced and complex operational environment.

This new role has been created to strengthen technical finance and statutory reporting within a growing, acquisitive business.

The Role

The Group Financial Accountant will be responsible for group consolidated reporting, statutory accounts and audit management. The postholder will work closely with Group FCs and MI teams to ensure compliance, accuracy and insight across group financial reporting.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Preparing consolidated management accounts, including P&L, balance sheet and cash flow.
  • Driving month-end and year-end close processes.
  • Leading statutory accounts and audit processes, acting as primary contact for external auditors.
  • Ensuring compliance with UK GAAP/IFRS, VAT and tax regulations.
  • Supporting M&A accounting, funding compliance and lease covenant reporting.
  • Developing internal controls, policies and process improvements.
  • Delivering financial insight to senior stakeholders and supporting strategic projects.

This is a full-time, permanent role, Monday to Friday, with standard office hours.

Location

The role is based at Head Office, Burnham (near Slough), and is non-negotiably office based five days per week. Candidates must be within a commutable distance or willing to relocate.

Essential Criteria

  • Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, ICAS). CIMA not suitable due to technical requirements.
  • Strong technical accounting knowledge, including consolidations, statutory reporting, VAT and tax.
  • Experience of M&A accounting desirable.
  • Significant experience of audit management and statutory compliance.
  • High level of analytical skill and ability to manage large data sets.
  • Systematic, process-driven, with excellent communication skills to work with senior stakeholders.

The Candidate

The successful candidate will be a technically strong, process-driven finance professional with a proven record of delivering consolidated reporting and statutory compliance. You will thrive in a complex and acquisitive business, providing technical rigour and supporting senior decision-making.

Financials

  • £65,000 – £75,000 basic salary
  • Up to 10% discretionary bonus
  • 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays (with 2–3 days allocated for Christmas closure)
  • Standard pension

Interview Process

  • One-stage, in-person interview at Head Office with CFO and senior leadership.
  • No presentations or technical tests.
