Role Overview

Our client is seeking a proactive and experienced Chef Manager to lead the catering operation within a high-volume secondary school in the Langley area. This is an exciting opportunity to shape a busy service, deliver fresh-cooked meals, and provide strong leadership to a committed team.


Location: Langley Area (SL3)
Salary: £35,000 per annum
Weeks: 42 Hours: 45 Shift: 07:00am 16:30pm


Key Responsibilities

Culinary & Service Leadership

  • Deliver high-quality, fresh, and nutritious menus daily.

  • Ensure efficient workflows during peak service times.

  • Lead on the creation of themed days, food promotions, and student engagement initiatives.

Team & Culture Leadership

  • Motivate and lead the catering team to achieve operational excellence.

  • Conduct appraisals, training sessions, and team briefings.

  • Create an inclusive, respectful, and productive team environment.

Compliance & Audit Performance

  • Ensure full compliance with all food safety and hygiene legislation.

  • Maintain excellent audit outcomes through robust processes and staff training.

Commercial & Financial Oversight

  • Manage labour costs, food margin performance, and weekly budgets.

  • Ensure correct stock management, waste recording, and supplier compliance.

Skills & Experience
  • Significant experience managing a high-volume school or contract catering kitchen.

  • Exceptional organisational and communication skills.

  • Strong culinary knowledge and fresh-food ethos.

  • Demonstrable ability to maintain compliance-led environments.
