We are seeking a dedicated Credit Controller to join our team. This role involves managing both branch and corporate accounts to ensure efficient cash collection and credit management. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in a credit control role, strong communication skills, and the ability to handle multiple tasks effectively.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Cash Collection:

    • Manage cash collection for branch and corporate accounts.
    • Proactively chase outstanding payments using various communication channels.
    • Aim to minimise overdue debt, focusing on the 60- and 90-day categories.
  • Cash Allocation:

    • Process BACS and cheque payments, ensuring accurate allocation to customer accounts and specific invoices.
    • Conduct regular reconciliations of ledgers and unallocated cash.
    • Perform weekly reconciliation of cash sale accounts.
  • Credit Management:

    • Monitor accounts exceeding 20% of their credit limit and conduct necessary reviews.
    • Ensure all accounts remain within approved credit limits.
  • Credit Holds:

    • Appropriately place accounts on hold and communicate this status to both internal teams and external customers.
  • Customer Queries:

    • Handle inbound calls and correspondence regarding account queries.
    • Record all interactions accurately and promptly.
    • Collaborate with branch teams to resolve issues efficiently.
  • Escalation:

    • Escalate unresolved issues to the Line Manager in a timely manner.
  • General Duties:

    • Produce customer reports and perform general administrative tasks as required.
    • Provide cover for team members in their absence.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Experience in a credit controller role.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to meet tight deadlines with accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Demonstrates energy, initiative, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • High level of numerical accuracy and reconciliation skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and capable of learning internal systems quickly.
