Slough Borough Council is seeking a pragmatic and adaptable qualified accountant to join our Corporate Resources team as a Strategic Finance Manager - Capital Accountant. This role is being offered to support additional and project-based work within our finance function.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead or contribute to critical areas of local government corporate finance

  • Support year-end processes and the production of the Statement of Accounts

  • Contribute to Medium-Term Financial Strategy (MTFS) and financial planning

  • Manage, report on, and reconcile data within an ERP system

  • Work collaboratively across departments to provide strategic financial insight

  • Assist in leadership and mentoring within the finance team

About You:
  • A qualified accountant (e.g. CIPFA, ACCA, CIMA, or ACA)

  • Proven experience in local government corporate finance

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Able to work independently and as part of a team

  • Experience in at least one of the following areas:

    • Year-end and Statement of Accounts

    • MTFS and financial planning

    • ERP system management, reporting & reconciliation
