Freightserve recruitment are looking for a Courier Operations Manager for a well-established Courier company based in the Colnbrook, Berkshire area.

Responsible to the Operations Director, it will be your responsibility to ensure the smooth running of the operation. This is a hands-on role, which will involve managing a team to ensure shipments are processed and made ready for export adhering to procedures and deadlines.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities:-

• Maintaining the smooth and effective running of the Operations Department, including staffing levels, supplier engagement and delivery of departmental targets.

• Ensuring shipments are processed in accordance with established policy & procedures.

• Motivating the Operations team to perform effectively and efficiently, ensuring they have the correct skills and training to undertake their roles .

• Working with the Operations Director to deliver strategic improvements.

• Being responsive and agile to operational demands, with the ability to identify issues & solutions.

• Ensure compliance with HMRC and regulatory procedures.

• Performance monitoring and reporting .

• Liaison with UK and overseas partners.

• Carry out any other duties that may be reasonably required in the context of the job role.

Skills required:-

• Extensive knowledge of the courier industry, for both exports and imports

• Experience of leading a team

• Knowledge of HMRC import/export procedures and raising entries

• IATA Dangerous Goods trained

• Forklift licence

• You must be able to work in a fast-paced environment

• You must have strong administration and communication skills

• Exceptional leadership, motivation, and people management skills

• Ability to prioritise, multitask and delegate

• Good working knowledge of computers and email and office applications
