Maintenance Engineer
Salary: 50,000
Location: Slough
Shift Pattern: 4 on 4 off, 6pm-6am (Nights)

We are currently recruiting for a Maintenance Engineer to join a successful and well-established food manufacturing business based in Slough. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Maintenance Engineer to work nights within a high-performing engineering team, supporting production through effective maintenance and continuous improvement.

As a Maintenance Engineer, you will be responsible for ensuring all plant, equipment and services operate efficiently, safely and in line with company standards, helping the site consistently meet production and sales targets.

The Role - Maintenance Engineer
Carry out planned preventative maintenance to minimise downtime and improve equipment reliability
Diagnose and repair electrical and mechanical faults on production machinery
Respond quickly and effectively to breakdowns to reduce production impact
Perform routine servicing, maintenance and fitting of new parts
Identify root causes of failures and implement long-term corrective actions
Calibrate and check instruments to ensure accuracy and compliance
Communicate effectively with production teams, engineers and managers across shifts
Complete all engineering documentation and shift reports accurately
Support continuous improvement initiatives and lean manufacturing activities
Recommend and implement plant and process improvements to improve efficiency, quality and throughput
Work across different areas of the bakery as required

Skills and Experience Required
Recognised engineering qualification
Minimum of 5 years' experience in a Maintenance Engineer role
Strong electrical and mechanical fault-finding skills
Good understanding of engineering drawings and principles
PLC experience within a bakery or food manufacturing environment is essential
Strong awareness of HSE standards and safe working practices
Ability to work independently and as part of a team on a night shift pattern
