The Role: Packaging Engineer
We're looking for a proactive Packaging Engineer to join our Research & Development (R&D) team on a 6-month fixed-term contract in Slough. This role is a fantastic opportunity for an individual with foundational technical knowledge to contribute to innovation and quality assurance within product packaging.
This position offers a hybrid working model, requiring you to be in the Slough office just one day per week.
The role operates within the Packaging Design function, which is crucial for driving our innovation pipeline - from initial prototype concepts to full industrial production. You'll be a key part of the team ensuring that our packaging meets essential quality attributes and safety standards.
Core Responsibilities
As a Packaging Engineer, you will be primarily responsible for the technical development and implementation of our product packaging solutions. Your tasks will include:
Design & Development: Creating and improving packaging designs (e.g., cartons, bottles, films) and selecting appropriate materials based on performance, cost-efficiency, and durability.
Prototyping & Testing: Aiding in the design, testing, and modification of packaging prototypes.
Process Engineering: Developing efficient manufacturing processes for packaging components.
Machinery Oversight: Ensuring the proper installation, operation, and maintenance of packaging machinery and systems for optimal performance.
Quality Assurance: Integrating quality control procedures into the design process to ensure compliance with relevant technical and regulatory standards.
What You'll Bring
A college or university degree in a relevant field.
Conceptual understanding of relevant theories and practices.
The ability to work independently on structured assignments, using existing procedures and practical knowledge to solve difficult but routine problems.
The capacity to receive and act on general instruction, guidance, and direction.
