Salary: 70,000 - 90,000
Hours: 9:00-5:00 (flexibility required to support factory operations 6:00-12:00)

Role Overview
The Technical Manager will be responsible for ensuring that all food safety, quality, and compliance objectives are met across the site. This is a hands-on role within a growing food manufacturing business, requiring someone who can hit the ground running, take full ownership of technical systems, and support the business through its next phase of growth over the next 18 months.
The role will oversee two QA team members and work closely with the founder, suppliers, customers, and regulatory bodies to ensure ongoing compliance and continual improvement.
Key Responsibilities
Ensure that the company's operational processes are appropriately controlled and that food safety and quality objectives are consistently met
Maintain, control, and continuously improve all factory technical systems and associated documentation
Lead the continual improvement of food safety, quality, and operational processes across the site
Audit and maintain compliance with all customer standards, legal requirements, and internal procedures
Ensure ongoing compliance with food safety standards including HACCP and customer codes of practice
Manage and support external and internal audits, including customer and regulatory inspections
Work closely with suppliers to ensure raw materials and services meet required specifications and standards
Liaise with customers and regulatory bodies as required on technical and compliance matters
Vet products, processes, and systems to ensure compliance with current and future regulatory requirements
Maintain, implement, and communicate all relevant food legislation and industry standards
Monitor KPIs across all departments, identifying risks, trends, and areas for improvement
Lead, manage, and develop two QA team members, supporting their performance and professional growth
Support the strategic growth of the site over the next 18 months through robust technical leadership
Experience, Skills & Qualifications
Essential
Proven experience in a Technical Manager or Senior Technical role within the food manufacturing industry
Strong working knowledge of HACCP
Experience managing food safety and quality systems in a factory environment
Ability to work independently and take full ownership of the technical function
Confident communicator, able to work effectively with factory teams, senior stakeholders, customers, and regulators
Desirable
BRC / BRCGS accreditation experience
Experience working in a growing or changing business environment
Audit management experience (customer, third-party, regulatory)
