Job Title: Temporary Finance AssistantLocation: SloughContract Type: Temporary (e.g., 2-4 weeks cover)Working Hours: [e.g., 9am - 1pm, Monday to Friday]Reports to: School Business Manager / Finance Manager

Purpose of the Role:

To provide financial administrative support to the school during a period of staff absence. Ensure accurate processing of financial data in line with school policies and local authority/EFA requirements.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Process purchase orders, invoices, and staff expense claims

  • Assist with petty cash and reconcile school trips, donations, and fund accounts

  • Support budget monitoring and financial reporting tasks

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records in the school finance system (e.g., SIMS FMS, PS Financials)

  • Liaise with suppliers and follow up on outstanding payments or queries

  • Assist with payroll preparation, if required

  • Support with audit preparation and compliance documentation

  • Provide general administrative support to the finance and office team

Person Specification:

Essential:

  • Experience in finance or administrative support roles

  • Strong numerical skills and attention to detail

  • Familiarity with school finance systems or willingness to learn (e.g., SIMS FMS, Arbor, PSF)

  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word

  • Good communication and organizational skills

Desirable:

  • Previous experience in a school environment

  • Knowledge of school financial regulations and procedures

  • AAT qualification or similar
