Senior Buyer

Overview:Responsible for leading the local purchasing and stores team within the Manufacturing division, ensuring cost-effective procurement of engineering and non-stock items, efficient inventory control, and compliance with company policies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise daily activities of the purchasing team.
  • Manage stock levels using SAP MRP; maintain high inventory accuracy.
  • Oversee consignment stock and material.
  • Conversion of Purchase orders.
  • Support category management implementation and group purchasing initiatives.
  • Record and report cost savings and KPIs.
  • Assist in tenders.
  • Provide departmental cover during shutdowns or absences.
  • Monitor and assess all Operations / procedures
  • Promote continuous improvement and safe systems of work.

Person Specification:

  • CIPS Level 4 (or above)
  • Extensive experience in a supervisory purchasing role
  • Strong management and negotiation skills.
  • Experience of using SAP with knowledge of MRP
  • Ability to manage a tender process.
  • Analytical, proactive, and flexible with strong communication abilities.
  • Commercially aware and IT literate (Word, Excel).
