Location: Solihull - Fully OnsiteHays are currently recruiting a Street Work Inspector for a local council on an initial 12-month contract to provide technical support within the Highway Works Permit Team. This role ensures the effective and efficient running of customer-focused services required to meet the Council's objectives. The Street Work Inspector will manage and inspect works carried out by all organisations on the Highway Network, ensuring coordination in accordance with legislation to minimise disruption to users, including local residents and traders.Key Responsibilities:

  • Control and Management: Ensure robust control, management, and inspection of highway works to minimise disruption.
  • Liaison: Work with internal and external promoters to reduce disruption on public highways in Solihull and neighbouring areas.
  • Compliance: Ensure adherence to the Permit Scheme, remedy breaches through notices and charges.
  • Site Inspections: Conduct site inspections based on weekly schedules from EToN systems, follow up on non-conformances, and apply necessary charges.
  • Investigation: Investigate, report, and act on offences under the Highways Act and other legislation, including recharging for damages.
  • Data Management: Accurately input, update, and use systems including EToN software, databases, GIS, and financial commitment systems.
  • Coordination: Assist with the coordination of all streets and roadworks in the borough.Requirements:
  • Qualifications: NRSWA Qualifications.
  • Experience: Knowledge and experience of relevant traffic and highway legislation and associated codes of best practice.
  • Skills: Applied experience of traffic management and work coordination systems.
