Sonic Summary

Our client, a Midlands-based engineering company in the automotive industry, is seeking an experienced SHEQ Manager to oversee Safety, Health, Environmental, and Quality compliance.
The role requires weekly or fortnightly travel to project sites and collaboration with project teams and leadership, primarily office-based otherwise.
Candidates should have a NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent Level 6 H&S qualification and proven SHEQ leadership experience in engineering, construction, or manufacturing.
A competitive salary is offered along with benefits such as 25 days of holiday, a company pension, and travel and car allowances.
While direct automotive experience is not essential, a solid understanding of safety and quality expectations in the sector is advantageous.

Our client is Midlands based engineering company, focused on the automotives industry and is currently seeking an experienced SHEQ Manager to lead all aspects of Safety, Health, Environmental, and Quality compliance across operations. This role involves weekly / fortnightly travel to project sites and close collaboration with project teams and leadership. This is a permanent role and will be office based unless when travelling to client sites.

Although direct automotive industry experience is not essential, a solid understanding of its safety and quality expectations would be advantageous. We welcome candidates from engineering, construction, or manufacturing backgrounds who demonstrate strong SHEQ knowledge, leadership, and regulatory compliance capabilities.

Key Responsibilities

Ensure company-wide SHEQ compliance in line with ISO 9001, 14001, 45001, and 27001
Conduct risk assessments, audits, inspections, and manage corrective actions
Lead incident investigations and implement preventative measures
Deliver SHEQ training and promote a proactive safety culture
Maintain SHEQ records and ensure readiness for audits
Support tender documentation and pre-qualification processes

Requirements

Essential:

NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent Level 6 H&S qualification
Proven SHEQ leadership in engineering, construction, or manufacturing
Strong knowledge of UK legislation (CDM, PUWER, COSHH, LOLER)
Experience with ISO management systems
Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel
Team player and relationship builder, able to collaborate to deliver collective goals

Desirable:

CMIOSH or equivalent professional body membership
Experience with mechanical handling or multi-site operations
Familiarity with BS EN 1090, UKCA/CE marking
Understanding of the automotive sector (beneficial but not essential)
