SEN Teaching Assistant – Primary

Full-time | Fixed Term | Term-time only | Immediate and upcoming starts available

We’re looking for a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to support children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) in a welcoming and inclusive primary school environment. This is an opportunity to make a lasting difference by helping pupils feel confident, supported, and ready to learn each day.

Working alongside the class teacher, you’ll help plan and deliver engaging learning activities tailored to individual needs. You’ll provide 1:1 and small-group support, ensuring that every child has the tools and encouragement they need to succeed. Your calm, consistent presence will help children feel secure and valued, both inside and outside the classroom.

This role is perfect for someone who finds joy in seeing pupils grow in confidence, independence, and happiness through patient, nurturing guidance.

What We’re Looking For

• Experience supporting primary-aged pupils, ideally those with SEND (e.g. autism, ADHD, speech & language, or SEMH needs)
• A calm, positive, and empathetic approach to behaviour and learning support
• Strong communication and teamwork skills, working effectively with teachers and parents
• Confidence in adapting activities and resources to meet individual needs
• A genuine passion for inclusion and helping every child feel they belong

Role Requirements

• Relevant Teaching Assistant qualification (Level 2 or equivalent experience)
• GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths, Grade C/4 or above
• Understanding of SEND strategies, safeguarding, and positive behaviour support
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
• Full-time availability during school hours, term-time only
