Solihull Children's Services are seeking an experienced Youth Justice Service Team Manager to provide sickness cover within our Exploitation, Missing and Youth Justice Department.

Your new role
As a Youth Justice Service Team Manager, you will play a key leadership role, responsible for the operational management and delivery of all aspects of the Youth Justice Service, ensuring compliance with legislation, national standards, and local policies.You will lead a dedicated team working with children and young people across prevention, out-of-court disposals, statutory interventions, and custody. The team currently supports around 100 children at any one time.Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage a small, skilled team (2 Team Managers, 2 Team Leads, Restorative Justice Worker, 10 Youth Justice Officers, and 2 Support Workers).
  • Ensure high-quality, child-first services that reduce youth offending and safeguard children.
  • Oversee performance management, quality assurance, and practice development.
  • Work collaboratively with partners to improve outcomes for children and young people.
  • Manage budgets and resources effectively.

Working PatternHours: Monday-Thursday 9:00-17:00, Friday 9:00-16:30Hybrid: Minimum 2 days per week in the office at Elmwood PlaceDuty Requirement: Weekday duty rota and Saturday duty manager (1 in 4 weeks)
What you'll need to succeed

  • Substantial experience as a Youth Justice Service Team Manager.
  • A minimum of 1 year experience in leadership and managing a team with a Level 5 qualification.
  • Strong leadership and performance management skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of Youth Justice legislation, policies, and best practice.
  • Ability to work under pressure and make robust safeguarding decisions.
  • Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle (essential car user post).
  • Desirable: Experience using Child View recording system.
