The role

This challenging role offers an exciting opportunity to study for your ACCA qualification (supported by the company) whilst gaining relevant work experience along the way. The role will give you exposure to varied duties; reporting into the Financial Operations Manager this role offers the opportunity to fast track your career and challenge yourself on a daily basis. The right candidate will relish the opportunity to learn about a wide range of different insurances and processes in the financial services industry.

Location

Our business has offices across London, Belgium, Ireland, and Bermuda. This role will be based in the Croydon office but may require occasional travel to the London.

Key accountabilities

Management accounts process - working with the finance team to deliver a suite of monthly management accounts:

  • Journal posting
  • Balance Sheet Reconciliations
  • Intercompany Reconciliations and parent group reporting
  • Financial Statement reporting and trading analysis
  • Invoice posting, payments and banking responsibilities
  • VAT, Corporation Tax, Dividend and Loan transactions
  • Process documentation and improvement

Insurance cash management:

  • Working with the technical services team to ensure that insurance premiums are paid and reconciled on a timely basis
  • Bordereaux production and transactional reporting
  • Sales Ledger system reconciliations
  • Regular operational and financial reporting

Regulatory Reporting and Audit:

  • Reporting to relevant financial regulators
  • Audit process support
  • Statutory Accounts production

General

  • Ad hoc business support and financial analysis
  • Any other duties assigned by your line manager relevant to the role/time

Skills & experience

  • Strong written and spoken communication skills to enable communication at all levels.
  • Ability to handle a varied workload and competing priorities.
  • Strong analytical, research and reporting skills.
  • Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Willingness to work extended hours, as required.
  • Degree educated (minimum 2:1) in Mathematics, Science or Business related subjects.
  • Analytical with a strong attention to detail
  • Ability to support success and timely delivery in a complex, multi-disciplinary environment.
  • Personal drive and resilience in established and new/changing situations.
  • A team player with strong interest in the performance of the business as a whole.
  • Commercially savvy, bright, energetic, and positive with a 'can do' attitude and a focus on getting things done.
