Starting Salary: £24,960. Rising to £25,480 after probation period

Hours: 8.00am - 4.00pm Term Time Only

The school works with pupils with social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) difficulties.

Many of the young people will have displayed challenging behaviour at their previous schools.

About You:

As a HLTA - you will collaborate with the class teacher to provide essential support to students offsite. We are seeking an individual who is inherently supportive and proactive, ideally with previous experience as a Teaching Assistant.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Experience working as a Teaching Assistant.
  • Experience working with children who have special needs
  • A Teaching Assistant qualification or relevant degree is desirable.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • To work 1:1 and 2:1 with key stage 4 students in the community under the instruction of teaching/senior staff, to support access to learning for pupils with SEMH, additional complex needs and challenging behaviour, and provide general pastoral and academic support to the students. To deliver basic Maths and English as well as support the students with work experience, life skills and their physical activities day to day.
  • Assisting the teacher in delivering work with the children in the class.
  • Supporting children with their classwork, reading, and writing skills.
  • Supporting with behavior management
  • Planning and leading targeted interventions to support pupils in development areas.
  • Developing curricular knowledge as required by the school.
  • Undertaking observations of pupils and contributing to pupil records.
  • Supporting the class teacher with the general management and supervision of the classroom.
  • Working in small groups or on a 1:1 basis with learners
