Join a charity based in South Tyneside, looking for a Temporary qualified Finance Officer to manage their financial operations with integrity, transparency, and strategic insight. 3 month temporary position.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Manage day-to-day financial operations including accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and bank reconciliations.
  • Prepare monthly management accounts, cash flow forecasts, and financial reports for the CEO and Board of Trustees.
  • Lead on annual budgeting and financial planning processes.
  • Oversee preparation of year-end accounts and liaise with external auditors.
  • Ensure compliance with Charity Commission, Companies House, and HMRC requirements.
  • Monitor and report on restricted and unrestricted funding.
  • Support contract management, particularly housing-related income including Housing Benefit and Universal Credit claims.
  • Maintain and develop financial policies and procedures.
  • Provide financial input into funding bids and grant reporting.
  • Manage and develop the finance team.
  • Work with the senior team on broader strategic and operational matters.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
  • Strong understanding of charity SORP and fund accounting.
  • Experience managing Housing Benefit or similar welfare-related income streams.
  • Excellent IT skills, including proficiency in Excel and accounting software (e.g., Xero, Sage, QuickBooks).
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
