Youth Offending Officer
South Tyneside – Full Time
£13.68 per hour (pre-AWR)
Start: ASAP

The Role
Vision for Education are working with SEND schools in South Shields to recruit an experienced and resilient Youth Offending Officer. This full-time role, starting as soon as possible, involves supporting young people with social, emotional, and behavioural needs — including those at risk of exclusion or reoffending.

This is a challenging yet highly rewarding opportunity for a skilled professional with a background in youth offending, behaviour support, or SEMH provision. You will work closely with school staff, families, and external agencies to deliver targeted interventions, promote positive behaviour, and help young people re-engage with education and wider opportunities.

Please note: Previous experience in a similar role is essential, as is holding a current Team Teach qualification (or equivalent positive handling training).

Requirements
The successful Youth Offending Officer will have:

  • Proven experience working with children or young people with challenging behaviour, SEMH, or within youth offending services.

  • A valid Team Teach qualification (essential).

  • Strong understanding of behaviour management, de-escalation, and safeguarding.

  • Knowledge of multi-agency working and youth justice systems.

  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to build trust with hard-to-reach young people.

  • A calm, consistent, and resilient approach to supporting vulnerable learners.

What We Offer
When you join Vision for Education, you benefit from:

  • Variety & Flexibility – Gain valuable experience across specialist and alternative education settings.

  • Competitive Pay – Great rates, paid reliably through our PAYE system.

  • Work-Life Balance – No planning or marking required outside of working hours.

  • Ongoing Development – Access to regular CPD and behaviour management training.

  • Dedicated Support – A consultant available 24/7 to guide and assist you.
