BEFORE APPLYING PLEASE ENSURE THAT YOU ARE ABLE TO COMMIT TO THE BELOW:

  • Work 4 days on and have 4 days off
  • Travel to Gloucestershire for 4 days training ( Accommodation will be provided along with breakfast and Lunch)
  • Manual Car Driver

Tasks and duties:

  • Aligned to the young person’s individual care plan, via a person-centred approach, you’ll provide personalised care and support including assisting with daily activities, medication management, meal preparation, and other personal care tasks.
  • Managing conflict by engaging in positive approaches to challenging behaviour
  • Identifying and mitigating risk on a daily basis for everyone including the young person
  • Coaching and mentoring to achieve better outcomes with the YP
  • Stakeholder communication with family contacts, local authorities, emergency services, education providers and more
  • Report writing, daily reports & incident report forms ABCs and Service User Recording System - Mentor
  • Adherence to the General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR)
  • Ensure all information and/or intelligence specific to the young person is treated with discretion and the appropriate sensitivity
  • Ensure all your activities fall in-line within the regulations and code of conduct set by The Care Quality Commission
  • Adherence to the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974 (HASAWA)
  • Carry out vehicle safety checks and driving the young person to appointments, activities etc

Person specification:

  • Capable of applying conflict resolution and risk management skills in a caregiving setting
  • Proficient in identifying potential risks and taking appropriate preventive actions
  • Experienced in handling conflicts and challenging behaviour professionally and effectively
  • Passionate about coaching and mentoring others
  • Takes positive steps to support YPs in achieving their goals and aspirations
  • Provides guidance and support to other members of the care team
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure
  • Willingness to undergo training for skill and knowledge development
  • Resilient and calm under pressure

Knowledge/experience:

  • Experience within a care setting (can be professional or through lived experience).
  • Familiar with written administration in MS Word.

Qualifications:

  • Essential – Level 3 in Residential Childcare or equivalent (and/or be willing to complete within 12 months)
  • First Aid Qualification is desirable but will be trained
  • Full UK Manual driving license
