The Role
As a Building Surveyor, you will join a small, growing team of surveyors and collaborate closely with project management professionals. This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious, driven individual who wants to take a leading role in delivering core building surveying services, mentoring junior team members, and helping to expand the team's services.
This role offers the potential to progress into management for the right candidate.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and deliver core building surveying services, including condition surveys, specialist defect inspections, and RICS Level 2 Home Surveys.
- Produce detailed, accurate reports that analyse building conditions, identify defects, and provide recommendations for repair, maintenance, and refurbishment.
- Advise clients on sustainability, energy efficiency, environmental impact, and the maintenance of historic or architecturally significant buildings.
- Support the development of capital funding bids for educational establishments, including Condition Improvement Fund (CIF) applications.
- Mentor and develop junior surveyors, supporting their professional growth and overseeing workload.
- Collaborate with the Project Management team to deliver school condition surveys and reports, especially during peak periods.
- Build and maintain client relationships, acting as a trusted advisor.
What We're Looking For
- RICS-accredited Building Surveyor qualification (essential).
- In-depth experience producing RICS Level 2 Building Survey Reports and other professional surveys.
- Strong technical knowledge of building pathology, repair solutions, and maintenance strategies.
- Excellent organisational, time management, and communication skills.
- Commercial awareness and ability to balance profitability with service excellence.
- Proven leadership or mentoring experience within a small team.
- Valid UK driving licence and DBS clearance.
- Chartered MRICS status (desirable).
- Experience working in educational settings and preparing capital funding bids (desirable).
