Job Summary:
Our client is seeking a reliable and hands-on Yard Manager with strong mechanical experience to oversee the day-to-day operations of the yard.
Your job will be the planning of machinery and equipment that will be going to sitesd across the UK; and also to ensure all equipment is properly maintained and serviced. This role is ideal for someone with a background in mechanics who can manage inventory, organise logistics, and perform or oversee routine maintenance and repairs on heavy equipment and vehicles.
Key Responsibilities of the Yard Manager:
- Manage the organization, cleanliness, and safety of the yard and work areas.
- Oversee the inspection, maintenance, and repair of company equipment (e.g., trucks, trailers, generators, small & large Agriculture machines).
- Schedule and perform routine maintenance and minor repairs to reduce equipment downtime.
- Maintain accurate records of service and repair history for all assets.
- Coordinate with outside vendors for specialised repairs or part procurement when needed.
- Manage incoming and outgoing inventory, deliveries, and shipments.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Assist with loading and unloading of materials when necessary.
- Support logistics and operations teams with equipment allocation and yard logistics.
Qualifications and experience for the Yard Manager:
- Proven experience as a Yard Manager, Mechanic, or in a similar role.
- Strong mechanical background; ability to diagnose and perform minor repairs equipment (oil change, replace bulbs, looms etc)
- Basic knowledge of electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems is a plus.
- Familiarity with maintaining heavy machinery and tools.
- Strong organisational and leadership skills.
- Ability to work independently and problem-solve under pressure.
£30,000 - £34,000 per annum.
