We are seeking a dedicated Financial Accountant to join a strong Finance team on a 12-month fixed-term contract to work with our well-known client. The role involves working closely with the Financial and Management Accounts Team to deliver accurate and timely financial and management accounting information that is customer oriented.
Day-to-day of the role:- Prepare annual financial statements ensuring compliance with relevant accounting standards and legislation.
- Prepare, and provide financial information to internal stakeholders to support business decision-making.
- Monitor budgets, capital projects, and externally funded projects, identifying and investigating variances.
- Interpret and report on financial trends, and undertake forecasting, modelling, and scenario planning as needed.
- Prepare VAT returns and forecasts.
- Assist with the preparation and audit of financial statements.
- Provide support to the Financial and Management accounts teams as required.
- Part Qualified Accountant (ACCA or CIMA) or equivalent relevant experience.
- Understanding of current accounting standards, FRS102, and SORP.
- Knowledge of costing methods and variance analysis.
- Experience in a financial and management accounting team.
- Experience of Management and financial reporting and costing.
- Public sector experience would be an advantage.
- Excellent IT and spreadsheet skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Motivated team player, able to work to deadlines and on own initiative.
- Good numerical and problem-solving skills with an ability to analyse and interpret data.
- Commitment to maintaining confidentiality as required.
- 12-month FTC, onsite parking, Central Southampton location.
