Tax Accountant | Southampton (Hybrid, 3 Days in Office) | Up to £60,000

A leading international organisation is seeking a Tax Accountant to join its finance team, supporting global operations from its Southampton office. This is an exciting opportunity for a capable tax professional who enjoys variety and wants to develop both their technical expertise and broader commercial understanding within a collaborative, purpose-driven business.

Working closely with the Group Tax and Insurance Manager, you’ll play a key role in ensuring the company meets its UK and international tax compliance obligations, while also contributing to the tax analysis of new business opportunities. Alongside this, you’ll provide valuable support with insurance administration and membership billing activities during peak cycles.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with year-end tax reporting and the preparation of UK corporation tax computations using Alphatax.
  • Prepare and review VAT returns across multiple jurisdictions, ensuring compliance with local regulations.
  • Support the Business Development team by reviewing project proposals and advising on tax implications.
  • Manage tax payments, reconciliations, and documentation processes, including withholding tax certificates.
  • Support employment tax compliance, including PAYE Settlement Agreements and short-term business visitor reporting.
  • Contribute to process improvements within the tax and finance functions.
  • Provide administrative support for insurance renewals and assist with membership invoicing during renewal periods.
  • Undertake ad-hoc analysis and reporting, including support for external surveys and statutory submissions.

About You

We’re looking for a proactive and detail-oriented individual who can balance accuracy with a pragmatic, business-focused approach. You’ll be confident working independently but also comfortable collaborating across departments and with external advisors.

Essential:

  • Experience within a tax-focused role in either industry or practice.
  • Strong working knowledge of UK corporation tax and VAT.
  • Solid Excel skills and general proficiency with Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.

Desirable:

  • Familiarity with Alphatax and NetSuite.
  • ATT or CIOT qualification (or working towards), or an accounting qualification (ACCA / CIMA / ACA) with significant tax experience.

Why Apply?
This is a fantastic opportunity to join a respected organisation offering a broad and engaging remit, the chance to work across multiple tax disciplines, and exposure to international operations. You’ll be joining a supportive finance team with a culture of continuous improvement and professional development.
