Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Project Manager with proven Tier 1 contractor experience to lead the delivery of a major university project in Southampton. This is a site-based role, requiring strong leadership, technical expertise, and the ability to manage complex mechanical packages from inception through to completion.




Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee all mechanical aspects of the project, ensuring delivery on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

  • Manage site-based teams, subcontractors, and suppliers, fostering collaboration and efficiency.

  • Liaise with the client, consultants, and stakeholders to maintain clear communication and strong relationships.

  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.

  • Monitor progress, prepare reports, and provide updates to senior management.

  • Drive value engineering initiatives and identify opportunities for innovation.

  • Lead commissioning and handover processes, ensuring smooth transition to operational use.




Essential Requirements

  • Tier 1 contractor experience delivering large-scale mechanical projects.

  • Strong background in mechanical building services within the education or commercial sector.

  • Proven track record of managing site-based projects from start to finish.

  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organisational skills.

  • Ability to manage budgets, schedules, and resources effectively.

  • Relevant qualifications in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services.




Desirable Skills

  • Experience working on university or higher education projects.

  • Knowledge of sustainable and energy-efficient mechanical systems.

  • Familiarity with BIM and digital construction tools.
