Job Title: Drainage Site Engineer - Highways Project
Location: Southampton
Duration: 3 Months (initial, with potential extension)
IR35 Status: Outside IR35
Start Date: ASAP
Rate: 340-360 per day



Overview


We are seeking an experienced Drainage Site Engineer to join our team on a major highways project in Southampton. The role involves hands-on engineering duties as well as leadership responsibilities, ensuring that drainage, earthworks, and highways activities are delivered to programme, quality, and safety standards.



Key Responsibilities


  • Setting Out:

    • Accurately set out drainage works, earthworks, and highway alignments.

    • Ensure works are built in accordance with project drawings and specifications.

  • Site Engineering:

    • Provide technical support on drainage systems, earthworks, and road construction.

    • Carry out as-built surveys and maintain accurate records.

    • Monitor quality control in line with project requirements.

  • Management & Leadership:

    • Supervise and manage site gangs, subcontractors, and labour.

    • Act as the technical lead on site for drainage and highway activities.

    • Lead and coordinate daily site operations to ensure project milestones are met.

  • Health, Safety & Compliance:

    • Promote and maintain high standards of health and safety on site.

    • Ensure compliance with RAMS and company procedures.


Requirements


  • Proven experience as a Site Engineer on large civil engineering projects.

  • Strong background in drainage, earthworks, and highways.

  • Proficient in setting out using GPS, robotic total station, and AutoCAD.

  • Experience in managing gangs and leading site teams.

  • Strong communication and organisational skills.

  • CSCS card (essential).

  • SMSTS or SSSTS (preferred).

  • Full UK driving licence.
