Berry Recruitment is excited to offer a fantastic opportunity for 2 x Painters & Decorators to join our team, working with Southampton City Council. This 3-month rolling contract has the potential for full-time employment for the right candidates.

Position: Painter & Decorator
Location: Southampton
Contract: 3-month rolling contract with potential for permanent placement
Start Date: 22nd December 2025
Hours: Monday to Friday, 39 hours per week

Key Responsibilities:

  • Undertake painting and decorating tasks within Southampton City boundary as part of the Responsive Repairs team.

  • Carry out small works in other trade disciplines

  • Liaise with residents, peers, and colleagues daily, ensuring excellent communication and customer service.

  • Ensure the correct application of health & safety procedures and regulations, maintaining a safe working environment.



Essential Skills & Requirements:

  • Experience in property maintenance or practical understanding of the construction industry.

  • Carry out minor repairs in various disciplines.

  • Full UK driving license for driving council vehicles within the city.

  • Recognised apprenticeship to a Level 3 qualification in Painting & Decorating or equivalent, with at least 3 years of experience.

  • Good hand skills, attention to detail, and ability to work accurately and efficiently.

  • Ability to work in various heights and handle lifting.

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to interact with clients, including elderly or vulnerable residents.
