Hampshire Generators are well established in the supply, maintenance and installation of uninterruptible power supplies and diesel generators across the UK. Due to an increasing customer base, we are looking to add an experienced UPS engineer to the service team. The successful candidate will be integral to the future of the business, with a strong understanding of electrical engineering, diesel generator integration and controls.

This engineer will not only support the service team with planned maintenance visits but also assist with project installation, remedial costs and to help grow this side of the business.

Uninterruptible Power Supply Engineer Duties

  • Attend customer sites for service and maintenance customers, fault diagnosis, testing and repairs on all manufacturers of UPS, batteries, switchgear, control systems and associated equipment.
  • Carry out load bank testing, site surveys and inspections of standby power equipment.
  • Carry out installation and commissioning of UPS and battery systems and assist with installations.

Carry out battery impedance testing and battery replacements.

Provide prompt support, breakdown response, diagnosis and resolution for UPS and associated critical electrical equipment.

Supervise the on-site work of electricians, and apprentices engaged in the installation, maintenance and repair of UPS and critical power equipment.

Provide the sales team with estimates of resources to accurately calculate quotations.

Assist the project managers with technical assistance to fulfil contracts on time and on budget.

Train junior engineers in safe UPS maintenance and operation

Highlight further work encountered on site to the sales team

Carry out electrical testing and complete electrical test and inspection documentation.


UPS Engineer Position Requirements

  • Electrical Engineering qualifications 18th Edition or similar
  • Previous experience servicing and installing UPS is essential
  • Experience working with generator control systems is desirable
  • Commissioning experience desirable
  • Switchgear experience desirable
  • Prepared to travel nationally and spend nights away (expenses paid)
  • CSCS / ECS card
  • Full UK Driving Licence


Uninterruptible Power Supply Engineer Position Remuneration

  • Salary: From £40,000 to £55,000 per annum (negotiable - depending on experience)
  • Door to door pay
  • Hours: full time Monday - Friday 08:30 - 17:00 with flexible start and finish times
  • 25 days holiday plus Bank Holidays (33 days total)
  • Overtime available
  • Company Van
  • Pension
