Location: Southampton

Salary: Up to 45,000 depending on experience

We are currently recruiting for a skilled Mechanical Technician to join a well established engineering business. This role would suit a hands on engineer with strong experience across mechanical systems and a working knowledge of basic electrics.

The successful candidate will have proven experience working with gearboxes, mechanical drives, engines, hydraulic systems, and lifting equipment. You will be responsible for maintenance, fault-finding, repair, and support of mechanical equipment, working to high safety and quality standards.

Responsibilities include

  • Maintain, repair, and fault-find on gearboxes, mechanical drives, engines, and hydraulic systems
  • Inspect and service lifting equipment in line with safety standards
  • Carry out planned and reactive maintenance activities
  • Perform basic electrical fault-finding and component replacement
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings and manuals
  • Ensure all work is completed safely and accurately, with documentation completed as required

Skills and Experience

  • Experience with gearboxes, mechanical drives, and engines
  • Strong knowledge of hydraulic systems
  • Experience inspecting and maintaining lifting equipment
  • Basic electrical knowledge (motors, wiring, fault finding)
  • Ability to read engineering drawings and technical documentation
  • Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills
  • NVQ Level 3 / City & Guilds in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
