Are you an experienced finance professional looking to take the next step in your career? CMA Recruitment Group is partnering with a well-established organisation in Central Southampton to recruit an Assistant Finance Manager. Reporting directly to the Financial Controller, this is a newly created position following a departmental restructure. You'll play a vital role in the daily financial operations, working as part of a small and close-knit team of three.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone who thrives in a collaborative environment and is passionate about continuous improvement within a finance function. The role is mainly office based, with flexibility offered once you’re established in the role.

What will the Assistant Finance Manager role involve?
  • Supporting financial control activities, including preparation of monthly and quarterly financials

  • Assisting with internal controls and implementing process improvements

  • Delivering core financial accounting duties, including P&L and balance sheet preparation

  • Managing payroll and VAT tasks (training on payroll available if required)

  • Driving performance analysis and supporting KPI reporting

  • Participating in the Financial Statement Closing Process (FSCP)

  • Managing banking activities and processing supplier payments

Suitable Candidate for the Assistant Finance Manager vacancy:
  • Strong financial accounting background with experience across varied business areas

  • Highly organised, detail-oriented, and comfortable working to tight deadlines

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

  • Ideally experienced with Xero (not essential) and proficient in Excel

  • Enthusiastic about process improvement and contributing to a growing finance function
