Head of Finance – Southampton

Are you a seasoned finance leader looking for a role with real impact? A leading distribution business in Southampton is searching for an exceptional Head of Finance to take charge of all financial operations across the region. This pivotal position calls for expertise in financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and compliance alongside a strategic mindset to drive growth and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

  • Financial Leadership & Strategy: Lead the finance function, develop strategic plans, and ensure financial goals align with company objectives.
  • Financial Reporting & Analysis: Deliver accurate financial statements and provide insightful analysis for data-driven decision-making.
  • Budgeting & Forecasting: Manage budgeting and forecasting processes to ensure strong financial performance.
  • Cash Flow & Working Capital: Oversee cash flow to maintain liquidity and operational efficiency.
  • Compliance & Risk Management: Ensure regulatory adherence and proactively mitigate financial risks.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Present financial updates to the board and parent company, fostering transparency and confidence.
  • Team Leadership: Mentor and develop a finance team spanning multiple locations.
  • Strategic Partnering: Be a trusted advisor, leveraging financial insights to drive sustainable growth.

About You

  • qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA), including 5+ years in leadership roles.
  • Experience in ERP/system implementation is essential and advanced Excel proficiency.
  • Strong expertise in financial reporting, budgeting, and compliance with UK regulations.
  • Proven ability to lead and develop direct and indirect teams alongside experience of team restructure.
  • Business-savvy and analytical, with excellent communication skills. Confident in partnering with finance and non-finance teams, both on-site and remotely.
  • A strategic thinker with resilience, strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to influence and build meaningful relationships.
