Position: Sociology Teacher (with optional Humanities teaching)
Location: Southampton, Hampshire
Start Date: October 2025
Contract: 0.6 (part-time) or Full-Time – Long Term, with potential for a permanent role
Pay: £160 – £238 per day (depending on experience)
We are currently working with a secondary school in central Southampton to appoint a Sociology Teacher starting ASAP. This is a long-term position offered on either a 0.6 part-time or full-time basis, with potential for a permanent appointment for the right candidate.
The role will focus on GCSE Sociology, with the opportunity to teach additional Humanities subjects such as History, Geography, or PSHE depending on your background and availability.

What the Role Involves- Teaching GCSE Sociology to students in Key Stage 4
- Option to teach additional Humanities subjects depending on experience
- Creating a structured, inclusive learning environment that enables all students to progress
- Working closely with a supportive Humanities department to plan and deliver engaging lessons
- Taking part in department planning and student progress tracking
- Contributing to wider school life where possible
- A qualified teacher (QTS or equivalent)
- A background in Sociology or a related Social Sciences/Humanities field
- Recent experience teaching in a UK secondary school (GCSE level experience preferred)
- A calm, reflective approach to teaching and behaviour management
- Confident working independently and as part of a team
- Open to ECTs as well as experienced teachers
- Competitive daily pay (£165–£245 depending on experience)
