About the RoleWe're hiring a Mechanical Maintenance Operative to join our busy Estates & Facilities team. You'll be responsible for maintaining mechanical systems across our buildings and infrastructure, ensuring everything runs safely, smoothly, and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform planned and reactive maintenance on mechanical systems and equipment.
  • Carry out servicing, fault-finding, inspections, testing, and minor installations.
  • Support refurbishment projects and system upgrades.
  • Use CAFM software to manage tasks and update records.
  • Collaborate with other trades and assist with general maintenance duties.
  • Liaise with building users and contractors to coordinate access and support inspections.
  • Ensure all work complies with health & safety regulations, risk assessments, and permits.
  • Mentor apprentices and support team development.
  • Carry out other duties as required by the Maintenance Supervisor.


What We're Looking ForEssential:

  • NVQ Level 3, HNC, A-Level or equivalent in a mechanical trade.
  • City & Guilds 3345 - Water Regulations & Unvented Hot Water Systems (or equivalent).
  • Experience in fault diagnosis and technical problem-solving.
  • Strong understanding of building regulations and health & safety practices.

Desirable:

  • Experience in customer-facing roles.
  • Familiarity with CAFM/Helpdesk systems.

Skills:

  • Organised and able to prioritise workload.
  • Strong communication and teamwork.
  • Willingness to undertake further training.


Additional Information

  • This is a site-based role with work in plant rooms, ducts, roofs, and other challenging environments.
  • On-call and out-of-hours work may be required.
  • PPE and safety equipment will be provided.
