Religious Education (RE) Teacher – Southampton
Start Date: ASAP or after October half term
Contract: Long-Term until July 2026 (with the possibility of a permanent role)
Pay: £165 – £250 per day (dependent on experience)
Hours: 8:00am – 4:00pm | Full-Time

A welcoming mixed 11–16 secondary school in Southampton is seeking an enthusiastic Religious Education (RE) Teacher to join their team as soon as possible, or after October half term. This is a full-time role running until July 2026, with the strong potential to secure a permanent position for the right candidate.
You’ll be teaching Religious Education across Key Stages 3 and 4 within a supportive Humanities department. The school offers excellent professional development opportunities, and for ambitious educators, there may be future scope to take on leadership responsibilities. Both Early Career Teachers (ECTs) and experienced teachers are encouraged to apply. Candidates with relevant secondary RE teaching experience but without QTS may also be considered.
Key Responsibilities-
Deliver engaging and inclusive RE lessons that encourage respect, curiosity, and understanding of diverse beliefs and cultures.

Monitor and assess student progress, providing constructive and supportive feedback.

Contribute to departmental curriculum planning and whole-school initiatives.

Maintain a positive classroom environment with high expectations for behaviour and achievement.

Participate actively in wider school life, including extracurricular opportunities.

A mixed 11–16 secondary school located in Southampton.

A degree in Religious Studies or a related subject (essential).

QTS or equivalent teaching qualification (preferred, but not essential if you have strong RE teaching experience).

Experience teaching RE across KS3 and KS4.

Strong communication skills and the ability to motivate and inspire learners.
