Our client, an esteemed entity within the aerospace sector, is currently seeking a proficient Shop Floor Manager to join their dynamic team under an initial 6 month contract position.

Rate: to be discussed on experience, hourly rate insite IR35



Key Responsibilities:

  • Managing the team: Lead and develop the team, enabling them to meet operational objectives whilst complying with and enforcing company guidelines for safety and quality.
  • Managing production activities: Plan, direct and control production activities, ensuring fulfilment of operational objectives by maximising On Time Start (OTS) and On Time Finish (OTF).
  • Developing preventative activities: Enforce preventive measures to minimise occupational and environmental risks.
  • Communication: Facilitate effective communication within the team, ensuring clarity of operational objectives and expectations.
  • Ensuring team qualifications/certifications: Ensure team members possess requisite qualifications and certifications.
  • Complying with Policies and Procedures: Adhere to and enforce established procedures, policies, and systems.
  • Identifying Risk: Identify and mitigate potential risks affecting personnel, products, or equipment.
  • Analysing Indicators: Use relevant tools to analyse production, maintenance, and quality indicators, and prioritise improvement plans.
  • Energise improvements: Lead process and system improvement initiatives within the scope of responsibility.
  • Energise meetings: Conduct regular interdepartmental meetings to achieve maximum efficiency.


Job Requirements:

  • Experience in a manufacturing supervisory position, ideally Aerospace domain however not essential.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing management disciplines such as production and inventory control, and standard cost systems.
  • Strong IT skills including proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, able to communicate at all levels within the business.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to develop and motivate a high-involvement team.
  • Able to ensure compliance with Environmental, Health and Safety policies.
  • Ability to work with established Quality standards, processes and procedures.


Desired Characteristics:

  • Knowledge of production/manufacturing operations.
  • Familiarity with Six Sigma principles.
  • Prior experience with regulatory agencies and their requirements.
  • Understanding of the products, processes and customer requirements within the aerospace sector.
