Supply Desk is proud to be working in partnership with a secondary school located near Bitterne, Southampton, to recruit a Food Technology Teacher. This exciting maternity cover position starts in January 2026 and will run through to July 2026, with the possibility of a permanent contract for the right candidate.
You’ll be joining a friendly and forward-thinking Design & Technology department, passionate about fostering creativity and practical learning. This role would suit both Early Career Teachers (ECTs)and experienced educators who have a genuine passion for inspiring students through Food Technology.
Key Responsibilities:- Plan and deliver engaging, hands-on Food Technology lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4.
- Inspire students to develop essential cooking and nutrition skills, as well as an understanding of healthy lifestyles.
- Track and assess student progress, offering constructive feedback to drive improvement.
- Contribute to the ongoing development of the curriculum and department initiatives.
- Maintain high expectations for student achievement, behaviour, and engagement.
- A mixed 11–16 secondary schoolsituated close toBitterne, Southampton.
- Rated ‘Good’ by Ofsted (2022), with a welcoming, inclusive ethos and strong sense of community.
- Supportive Senior Leadership Teamfocused on staff wellbeing and professional growth.
- Excellent transport links and easy access from across the Southampton area.
- A degree in Food Technology, Design & Technology, or a related subject (essential).
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)Â or equivalent teaching qualification (preferred).
- Experience teaching Food Technology at KS3 and KS4.
- Strong classroom management and communication skills.
- A positive, engaging approach to teaching with a real passion for the subject.
