Food Technology Teacher – Southampton (Bitterne Area)

Start Date: January 2026
Contract: Maternity Cover until July 2026 (with the potential for a permanent position)
Pay: £160 – £240 per day (dependent on experience)
Hours: 8:00am – 4:00pm | Full-Time

Position Overview

Supply Desk is proud to be working in partnership with a secondary school located near Bitterne, Southampton, to recruit a Food Technology Teacher. This exciting maternity cover position starts in January 2026 and will run through to July 2026, with the possibility of a permanent contract for the right candidate.

You’ll be joining a friendly and forward-thinking Design & Technology department, passionate about fostering creativity and practical learning. This role would suit both Early Career Teachers (ECTs)and experienced educators who have a genuine passion for inspiring students through Food Technology.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Plan and deliver engaging, hands-on Food Technology lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4.
  • Inspire students to develop essential cooking and nutrition skills, as well as an understanding of healthy lifestyles.
  • Track and assess student progress, offering constructive feedback to drive improvement.
  • Contribute to the ongoing development of the curriculum and department initiatives.
  • Maintain high expectations for student achievement, behaviour, and engagement.

What We’re Looking For:
  • A degree in Food Technology, Design & Technology, or a related subject (essential).
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification (preferred).
  • Experience teaching Food Technology at KS3 and KS4.
  • Strong classroom management and communication skills.
  • A positive, engaging approach to teaching with a real passion for the subject.
