Southend-on-Sea City Council is seeking a full-time Senior Building Control Officer for a 6-month contract with a daily rate of £400.00.
The role involves assisting in the delivery of building control functions and ensuring compliance with the Building Act and related legislation.
Candidates must have a degree, part-professional membership, and proven experience in building control, along with a sound knowledge of regulations.
Administrative skills are essential, as well as a valid driving license and access to a suitable vehicle for business purposes.
Hybrid working is available, but candidates must be on-site at the Civic Centre at least 2 days a week.

Your new roleSouthend-on-Sea City Council are looking to appoint a full-time, agency Senior Building Control Officer for a 6-month contract, working 5 days a week. Daily rate £400.00.The successful candidate, under the direction of the Building Control Team Leader, will assist in the effective delivery of the building control function and ensure that the Council's obligations under the Building Act and associated legislation with regards to health, safety, welfare and convenience of persons in or about buildings are administered and enforced.They will assist in management, training and development of the trainees and assistants, acting in their absence on all relevant matters.

Check building regulation applications for compliance within the required timescales as well as carry out site inspections in a prompt, efficient and safe manner, ensuring site notes are recorded promptly and accurately.Other key responsibilities are to check fire safety, strategies, complete enforcement actions where necessary, provide specialist and technical advice to developers and be responsible for the safety equipment provided.

Within this position, hybrid working opportunities are available. However, you are required to be on-site at the Civic Centre a minimum of 2 days a week.

What you'll need to succeedTo be successful in this position, you must be qualified to degree level and have obtained part-professional membership, plus have proven building control experience.Y

ou must demonstrate sound knowledge of building control regulations, and have an understanding of the building process. You must have good administrative skills and be able to maintain accurate, comprehensive records.

It is essential that you hold a full, current, valid driving licence and have use of a suitable vehicle for business purposes.
